Walking the Medicine Way

Walking the Medicine way is a method of walking gently on mother earth. In this workshop, you will learn the teachings from the Medicine Wheel, a centuries old practice from ancient Native Americans. Tamare was fortunate to have these traditional teachings passed down by the wonderful Ontario elder Harvey Anderson (Chi-Mii-gwech) Alongside this, we will explore Earth Astrology, infusing it with knowledge from the Medicine Wheel. Why? To guide us in living a good life, a healing life, and a life in balance with all our relations.

A bit more about the workshop…

We will explore the elemental influences of each direction and how they relate to one’s astrological sign. Pairing the teachings of the Medicine Wheel with our personal astrological information, we will extract ancient wisdom and insights about who we truly are.

We will look at the personality of the individual through the lens of animal medicine. Uncovering one’s zodiac animal, the clan of that animal, how it fits, and what directional points it fits in terms of the medicine wheel.

We will look at what foods will be best for each individual. What strength and weakness points will be revealed, and how to optimize one’s life using this information.

Totem Shield Making

Totem Shield Making ~ Respecting Our Animal Spirits

with Tamare White-Wolf Shaman Witch and Spiritualist

With Honour and Respect in the Shamanic traditions, we gather together the spirit medicine of each of our totem animals.

In this tradition, we put their spiritual energy in the form of furs, leathers, feathers, bones, shells, etc., on a hoop-shaped frame. It is called Totem Shield Making. Some who are gifted in the muses paint and draw them on the leather. Adding other “medicines” on and around the hoop provides a secondary source of energy. It ties them together and beautifies the shield!

The ancient art of totem shield making was initially used by indigenous cultures worldwide to be placed outside dwellings (teepee, wigwam) to identify the spiritual energy of the person living there to passing tribes. The shields help others understand the individuals within – even before approaching them.

So they could speak and behave accordingly.

Honouring the totem animal allies in the form of a shield shows great respect to them. In return, the animal energy offers their protection, guidance, magic and spirited medicine gifts to caretaker of the shield.

In our day-to-day journeys, we often find gifts from our allies. Sometimes it is a feather on the ground, a tuft of fur, a skull and bones. Sometimes, we are gifted pieces of feathers, pelts of fur or the skills to paint or carve images.

You are welcome to bring those gifts from the Earth to the session to incorporate them into your medicine shield and/or allow Tamare to provide some or all of your Animal Medicine needs!

There is a mini Totem Animal Reading for each participant to help you with the creation and alignment.

“Animism” is the worldview that non-human entities, such as animals, plants and inanimate objects, possess a spiritual essence.

I’ve been creating this amazing witchy gathering on TikTok over the past year and realized how amazing it was to connect with so many people from all over the universe. It was during these moments that made me realize how wonderful it would be to learn, share and create ritual and ceremony with you all without the censorship social media is now and with the incredible option seeing you all which zoom provides!
